Points to Ponder ~ Clarity

Neither life nor happiness can be achieved by the pursuit of irrational whims. Just as man is free to attempt to survive by any random means, as a parasite, a moocher or a looter, but not free to succeed at it beyond the range of the moment—so he is free to seek his happiness in any irrational fraud, any whim, any delusion, any mindless escape from reality, but not free to succeed at it beyond the range of the moment nor to escape the consequences.

– Ayn Rand, ‘The Virtue of Selfishness’

  1. Thousands of years ago the first man discovered how to make fire. He was probably burned at the stake he had taught his brothers to light, but he left them a gift they had not conceived of, and he lifted darkness off the earth. Through out the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads, armed with nothing but their own vision. The great creators, the thinkers, the artists, the scientists, the inventors, stood alone against the men of their time. Every new thought was opposed. Every new invention was denounced. But the men of unborrowed vision went ahead. They fought, they suffered, and they paid – but they won.
    — Howard Roark in Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

Mans mind is like a fountain. The more freedom it is allowed, the more it spews great thoughts and ideas.

I realize my mind is unleashing its potential.
Today I designed a 12′ x 6′ inspection table and with the help of my son-and his so logical mind and deeper perceptive, could bring it to completion.
I grew burgundy colored corn, I found a plant that has all the seasons leaves in it — green for spring, dark magenta for summers and red for fall and the red leaves fall off when a new green leaf comes out. I found a way of drying the basement walls so that it does not allow mold, I found a more efficient way of doing laundry, I found release from the fears inside my mind by having the courage to do sky diving, by handling the controls of a plane for 15 minutes, and so on.

My mind is like a fountain of ideas and innovations and had always been in the past.
It was all deep inside. It was trapped in the daily drudgery of life.

My mind is free. It will give great ideas. It will help the business grow which will be a legacy for my children. It will continue to innovate, it will bloom to its fullness and continue to be a fountainhead.

“Man cannot survive except through his mind. He comes on earth unarmed. His brain is his only weapon. But the mind is an attribute of the individual” – Howard Roark in Fountainhead.
